Time passes by slowly when you’re not with your friends. Ella found that out the hard way. It was now March and the school year had dragged on and on. Ella refused to play at Ray’s house so they set up secret rehearsals with her at Joel’s. They were a month away from the beginning of the tour. They would go around their state and play at different venues and the band with most rave reviews would get a point. At the end of the tour the band with the most points would win.

“Ella, please we’ve been begging you. Just come with us to Ray’s just once so we can work on this song.” Sanger pleaded with Ella.

“Fine, but I’m not talking to him.” she said getting out of the car and walking up the familiar driveway.

“Welcome, I’ve been expecting you.” Ray said opening the door and going into a trance when he saw Ella.

She had changed a lot since they last saw each other. Ella’s brown and purple hair had now turned black and red. They never ran into each other at school because they were too good at avoiding each other.

“Hey Ella.” Ray said as she walked in. She just nodded and went up to his game room.

“She came.” Ray told Sanger in disbelief.

“I know I can talk her into doing anything.” Sanger said smirking.

They all filed into the room and began to practice as a whole again. They rocked out for about two hours and then decided that they were good enough.

“Guys, that was awesome.” Ray said clapping.

“Yup, it’s better now that we have the whole family.” Joel said smiling at Ella.

“Sophomores doing really good too. I went over and saw them practice a couple nights ago.” Ella replied.

“So you’re still with Matt?” Ray asked.

“No, we broke up.” she said looking at the ground. Ray nodded and sat down on the couch. Ella readjusted her white bow clip in her hair and but her bass guitar in its case. All this seemed too familiar. Her cell rang and made her travel out of her thoughts. “Hello?” she said.

“Who is that? I want to talk to them!” Sanger said stealing the phone from her. “Who is this? This is Ella’s boyfriend and I am so not pleased that your calling.” he said trying to sound like a gay guy.

“Shut up, Sanger this is your actual girlfriend, Serena.” Ella laughed and stole the phone back.

“So, anyways…” Ella said into the phone.

“I forgot to give Serena a March first gift!” Sanger said realizing his mistake.

“But March first isn’t a holiday, SG.” Evan said looking at him.

“Well, to me it is and I forgot to get her a gift. She hasn’t said anything about it, maybe she didn’t notice.” he hoped.

“Oh, and Sanger, Serena says you don’t need to get her a March first gift.” Ella said hanging up her cell.

“Really! Good because I was going broke buying her gifts every month.” Sanger laughed.

“You’re so gullible.” Joel laughed.

“Why yes I am.” Sanger said not realizing what gullible meant.

Ella decided to go shopping with Serena that day. Mandy tagged along. They were shopping for junior prom dresses because they had been invited by their boyfriends.

“Ella, who are you going with?” Mandy asked her.

“Well, I’m just going with you guys as a group.” she replied surveying an orange dress.

“Serena, that dress looks gorgeous on you!” Mandy said twirling Serena around.

“Really, I think I’m going to get it.” She smoothed it over and looked at herself in the mirror once more.

The dress was a light blue dress with one thick strap on the right side. It went all the way down to the floor. It really went well with her bright blue eyes and made them pop.

“Get it!” Ella said happily as Mandy went into the changing room to try on her dress.

“Mandy, hurry up!” Serena called impatiently beside Ella. Mandy came out in some ridiculous dress.

“Haha, your kidding me right?” Ella said laughing.

“No, what’s wrong?” Mandy asked.

“That dress is weird.” Serena said.

“Okay, fine but you’ll like the next one.” Mandy said going back into the changing room. Mandy tried on four more dresses before coming out in the best one.

It was a champagne colored, strapless dress that went down a little passed her knees. It had a bow in the middle of it and it was perfect for Mandy.

“The perfect boyfriend, the perfect body, and the perfect dress, you have it all!” Ella exclaimed after hugging her. “My turn.” Ella said going in.

“Oh, boy we’re going to be here all day!” Serena said jokingly.

“Don’t laugh.” said Ella walking out.

She had on an emerald green strapless dress that went down to her knees. It was perfect for Ella. I hugged every curve perfectly and she felt like a princess.

“You’re the pretty car crash I’ve ever seen.” Mandy exclaimed.

“I’ll say.” Serena added.

“Perfect, we’ll be the most beautiful girls there.” Ella said jumping up and down with her friends as they went to buy them.

“Now all we need is…” Serena began.

“Shoes!” All three of them said running towards a store with a sale sign in the front. They all franticly attacked the shoe store and picked out multiple pairs of shoes.

“Serena, I thought you already had those shoes?” Ella asked her.

“Yeah, but I don’t have them in this color.” she replied. Ella rolled her eyes and walked out of the store with her purchases.

They decided to walk into a couple more stores and then they exited the mall with their hands full of bags.

“Looks like you girl did some major shopping.” Joel said when they returned to Ella’s house. Joel had been sitting on the driveway waiting for them.

“Yes, we sure did.” Ella replied.

“Serena! Never do that to me again I have to know where you are at all times. You gave me a heart attack missy.” Sanger replied jumping on her causing her to drop her bags. She just simply laughed.

“Hey Sanger, gullible is written on the ceiling.” Ella said point up. Sanger looked up.

“Hey, there is no ceiling.” Sanger said realizing that he had been tricked. The rest of them laughed.

“They’re being meanies aren’t they Sanger.” Serena said.

“Why yes, yes they are.” he said glaring at them.

Evan called and asked if they all wanted to go down to the fair grounds and hang out. The fair had come into town for a little while and they hadn’t been able to visit it yet. Ella got ready with Mandy and Serena while Joel and Sanger waited in the kitchen.

Ella reapplied her eyeliner and straightened out her hair. She got dress in her new Distillers shirt and a pink tank top under it. She slipped into a denim mini skirt and black leggings and slipped on her new polka dotted flats.

After all of them were ready they exited the house and got into Sanger’s car and drove to the fair grounds. Evan and Ray were waiting out in the front for them. They had already bought them tickets and they entered. The first thing they did when they got there was go on the roller coasters. Sanger got so scared that fingernail marks were forever imprinted in Serena’s skin.

“Well, its getting dark. All you couples head over to the Ferris wheel for a ride to remember.” The announcer said.

“Want to go?” Evan asked Mandy.

“Sure.”

“Do you want to go?” Sanger asked Serena.

“Are you planning to hold my hand?”

“Yes.”

“Then no, we’ll skip this one.”

Ella stood there awkwardly with Ray.

“I’m hungry.” she retorted.

“Would you like a bit of my pretzel?” Ray asked holding out the pretzel. She took a bite out of it.

“Yum, I forgot how disgusting fair food was.” she said.

“Yeah, I know.”

“Friends?” Ella asked Ray extending out her hand.

“Friends, but only if you go on the Ferris wheel with me.”

“Fine.” Ella said rolling her eyes and running towards the ride.

There was no school the next day because it was officially Spring Break. The group decided to go practice on the first day and then take a break for the rest of it.

“I’m one happy camper!” Ella shouted after her fifth Rockstar.

“Ella, I think its time to stop.” Joel warned.

“No, my Rockstars.” Ella said yanking it away and taking another sip.

“Ella, seriously stop!” Evan said running after her.

“No! Mine! Muhahaha!” Ella shouted running away from him.

“Ella Ryland Dayford, I command you to stop!” Sanger shouted at her.

“Poo.” she said slowing down to a complete stop. Sanger picked Ella up and put her closet.

“Why did you put her in the closet?” Joel asked Sanger.

“Where else did you want me to put her, the freezer?” Joel shrugged and turned on the TV.

“Uh, guys, you can let me out now!” Ella called from the closet.

The week flew by fast and prom was on Monday. Ella decided to go with Serena and Mandy to get her hair done after school. Ella decided to dye her hair back to her natural color.

“I can’t wait for the prom!” Serena squealed as the lady finished up her hair.

“Me too!” Mandy said.

“Guess who Hayley Dawson is going with?” Serena said after getting out of her chair.

“Who?” Ella asked.

“Chase.” Serena said.

“Haha, I could never picture them going together!” Ella laughed.

“Yeah, well they are.” Serena said walking out the door of the beauty salon. This was going to be a long night.
