"I have a dream"

"I have a dream"

“I have a dream” A translucent theme,

A dream that seems so distant

That if it had stopped and greeted us we’d all have missed it,

I have a dream for this future I cannot see,

So in my mind I fight this war, trying to kill this transparency,

So I set out with my rifle and scope,

Trying to cope with the hardships that my dreams have provoked,

A one man army with failure backing me up.

We’re a joint operation like mechanized bone sockets,

Well greased; we keep opportunity in our pockets,

And if we could never reach in and grab then I guess we still have each other,

Always watching, waiting to connect, I and failure love one another,

But as we fight alongside I start to notice something about our relationship,

As I grow older, wiser, my subconscious lends me a tip,

“Failure will always be with you but not as to you it may seem,

Failure is contemplating on killing you and that futuristic dream”

My heart drops;

I turn my head towards failure, and it smiles back at me

A distortion in it’s face as it keeps firing,

I take a peek at the battlefield to see what it was aiming for,

And I realized it was shooting down everything I would adore,

This transparency disappearing so blindingly,

Faster than I could see!

The first bullet kills ambition,

The second, my life’s mission,

The third, success,

Failure never was one to rest.

My eyes began to blister at the very sight of this,

Failure was causing my agony, not bliss,

I look out again only to see,

Future and dreams holding hands in unison so pleasingly,

And I take a look at failure and watch as it lifts it rifle to take a shot that would ruin me,

This bullet that had the potential to wound my brilliancy,

So in a rush I lift my gun and take aim at Failure’s heart,

I hated it! But this is why killing it was the hardest part,

As I placed my finger on the trigger,

The transparency turns into a mirror,

And I catch a glimpse, only to see,

That I have become my own hypocrisy,

That everything I’ve hated about failure was caused by only me,

My legs weakened at the sight of this,

This face that became meaningless,

And from this point I decided to switch my target

I took opportunity out my pocket, loaded it into the chamber

And took a shot at that futuristic dream,

Its puncture created a crater from which seeped progression and success,

From this, my future dreams are to strive for nothing other than the best.

Wow!
Intense love...dreams are where true reality lies, I believe...to shatter them is to sometimes take them at face value!
Poignantly haunting, well written and a fav! xoxo
