Simplicity

Simplicity

A Poem by Harkness

Simplicity
The basic attribute of a child's mind
Good/Bad
Right/Wrong
Tasty/Nasty
Hiding/Seeking

How is it that as time flies, we lose track of such a basic idea
We no longer see right and wrong
But a series of shades of gray
The world accepts that there is an in between
Somewhere murky and dark

The world as we know it becomes far too complex
Looking at everything at all the angles we can find
Looking for the extra pay
Looking for the extra hours
Looking for the extra advantage

But once the day is done
And we can become the child we once were

There is only hiding or seeking
No in between

Very nice piece. I enjoy all the aspects of thought and mind in this poem all starting with a child's mindset. Honest and real, well done.
