Her

Her

A Poem by Michael Xavier
"

A poem I wrote for my girlfriend to show her how I felt about her.

"

Her brown eyes glisten with an untold tale.

An endless strength told through light hearted stares.

She speaks softly, her purpose doesn’t fail.

Breaking through bricks, maybe somebody cares?

Feminine grace and a mischievous grin.

Something about her, my guards start to sway.

How could just one person let herself in?

The heart of a guy, intruded this day.

Alone and lost, he thought was forever.

Yet here she stood promised never to leave.

A friend he found, with wit she was clever.

She stayed there even when his breath would heave.

I never had known how strong she could be.

Alone in darkness, she led me to see.

This was really good! I'm wondering if it was a sonnet, though, as I counted 10 syllables and 14 lines. Maybe you might want to consider breaking it up so it will stand out more as a sonnet, but other than that I was pleasantly surprised with what I read! Keep up the good work Michael, I can't wait to read more!
