Journey to a Love SongA Poem by XantharWell, it is what it is. Enjoy!
I hid my heart in hot Miami Under a bridge in a hobo's care Nobody's going looking there
I can no longer hurt I can no longer dream Light up a cigarette and smile through shades I'm way too cool to care these days Need a new place to live Need a new place to die Converse with pavement and make love to ghosts I'm way too cool to overdose
Hid my soul in old New Orleans Down in the quarter with Jean Lafitte Lost in the shuffle of Bourbon Street
I can no longer sing I can no longer play Pull up my collar and defy the cold I’m way too young to feel this old Need a new place to pray Need a new place to curse So I’ll catch a ride south in a semi truck I’m way to free to be this stuck
I’ll buy my heart back with a Mickey’s quart, I’ll pick up my soul at the N.O. Port Catch a tug headed up the Muddy Ole Miss Then ride due east on my thumbs and fists
When I get back I’ll sing you a love song. © 2008 Xanthar |
