A Little More Time

A Little More Time

A Poem by Xander West

“A Little More Time”

If only somehow I knew then,

The tragedy that was to come,

I would have held on longer,

Hoping to change the outcome.

I wish I would have kissed you more,

Shared the loving thoughts on my mind,

Worked a little harder to make you laugh,

If only, if only we had a little more time.

Would ask all the questions I care to know,

Answered all the details you wanted to hear,

Experienced a few more new adventures,

I would have lived life with a little less fear.

I miss your voice whispering gently as I sleep,

How your hands caressing eased my mind,

How your eyes lit up with every word I spoke,

If only, if only we had a little more time.

A very touching piece. The regrets and longings are expressed in a lovely way, the sadness not too stressed but just enough - just behind the surface, like in life it would lurk at the back of your mind, clinging to memories. "If only we had a little more time" is a very good title and is once again not trying to stress the longing but just express it as it is... but time is one thing that is unaffected by life (excluding physical arguments of course) and we time is time, there isn't really anything we can do... and that makes us feel so useless and helpless. Great write man.
