My Sad Love Song

My Sad Love Song

A Poem by Xander West

You stole my heart from the very first look,

You read my every thought like an open book,

You put me squarely under her enticing spell,

Ran somewhere far away just as I completely fell.

And here I am singing my sad love melody,

Only hope in the morning it's your face I see,

As I open tear-dried weary eyes I pray,

Tomorrow I hold you, tomorrow is the day.

Yet the morning comes and I'm all alone,

Left singing this same old sad love song,

Left thinking where did I begin to go wrong,

Why do I always end up being the one alone.

You stole my breathe from the very first kiss,

Every second apart it's your smile that I miss,

I fell from the very first time we held hands,

But here I am waltzing myself in a solo dance.

Another lonely night whispering my sad love melody,

But yet I am holding out for I still believe,

That somewhere down the road you stay,

Tomorrow I can hold you, tomorrow might be the day.

And if in the morning my bed is empty and cold,

At least it's a possibly I've already foretold,

I'm fine waiting for you as I lay all alone,

I have you in dreams and in my sad love song.
