What Hold

What Hold

A Poem by Xander West
"

A song in my head.

"

Laying here alone thinking of you,

Why are you always haunting me,

Waiting on sleep, long now overdue.

What hold, what hold do you have over me,

How is that I see you in everything,

Since when did my heart stop being free.

Close my eyes and see your lovely face,

Open my eyes and see your enticing smile,

I just don't think my heart can keep this pace.

Roll over in my bed to hold you tight

But only found a cold empty space

This is how I sleep every lonely night

What hold, what hold do you have over me,

How is that I see you in everything,

Since when did my heart stop being free.

Woke up with you on my weary mind,

Fell asleep tonight dreaming of you,

Seems you simply occupy all my time.

Bought your favorite coffee to keep me company,

Planted your favorite flowers to keep you close,

Hearing your voice singing to my heart's symphony

What hold, what hold do you have over me,

How is it I see you in everything,

Since when did my heart stop being free.

I long to hold you tight against me,

Smell your scent as I kiss your check,

My heart is no longer mine I believe.

Where are you my long lost love,

When can I see you walk back to me,

I pray every day to all the gods above.

What hold, what hold do you have over me,

How is it I see you in everything,

Since when did my heart stop beating free?
