Keeper of My HeartA Poem by Xander WestWritten in the last days of a relationship, swept away with the emotion of failed love.Alone at the dark beach I sit and stare, In comes the waves to lay all to bare, All my past, my mistakes, my evil sin, Over taking my tormented life seems completely fair, Out through the waves I walk up to my chin, Down I sink into the black pit of despair. Running from the mistakes I made with you, What hope of redemption can my soul ask for, When one loses a life of love through and through, Down I sink until I'm staring upon a door, With my last fading breath I pass through, Through the black I soar and soar. In a flowery meadow I awaken to sunny light, Oh what glory, a wonderful sight, There in flowers lies my love, such a beauty, Never have I loved a woman as much as she I speak truly, Down upon her radiant skin does the light glow, Gentle does the breeze through her long dark hair flow, As I stare into her eyes I become lost in love, Through the air does my heart soar and soar, Down I sit next to her in the velvet grass, How I wonder how long my dream can last, Upon her check do I stroke my hand, In my stomach I feel the sinking of quicksand, With the last of my strength I stare into my love's eyes, How I confess the love of our never dies. How fitting an end to the life of mine, How could I wish the last sight of my life be so fine, Oh how in that flowery meadow of sunny light did she shine, The love of my life, The keeper of the heart of mine. © 2015 Xander West |
