Scene 1

-Nakatsu Koi-

Bullets whizzed past my head as I not so gracefully dodged them by only seconds. Already I had been shot in the leg- pain throbbed through my body as blood seeped from the wound. Dirt covered my torn cloths, and I only got more on them as I ducked behind an abandoned car to reload my own gun.

“Don’t believe I’ll let you hide, Antoney!” the fallen angel, Lucifer, shouted as he calmly walked around the car to point his silver gun at my head. “I’m everywhere,” he breathed.

My mind went blank in utter fear. I couldn’t move my hands, I couldn’t think, I couldn’t even feel the pain in my leg. My gun fell from my hand, the bullets dropping to the cement as I stared up at the dark angel. “I…..” I started, glancing off into the distance with a groan. “I need my line!” I shouted out, and immediately a bell rang to stop the recording. The Lucifer actor sighed, dropping his tensed shoulders as he walked away for water.

“You say, ‘but you’re no where’, Koi.” The line assistant called out to me from the camera’s side. It was only the second line I had forgotten during this scene, but I felt ashamed. I should’ve memorized them properly. “Thanks,” I called out, but before I could resume my position as an angel-killer, my director walked over, looking grim.

“Uh... Nakatsu… There’s someone here to see you,” he mumbled nervously, sweat lining his scrunched up forehead. He pushed his glasses up the ridge of his nose, something he always did when nervous. My heart dropped. This was not a good sign. The director, Mr. Callways, was a strong angry man usually. He didn’t take any crap from anyone; he gave it. And we were the ones to deal with it.

“What is it, sir?” I asked, standing up slowly. I was in no condition to meet anyone… I looked like… well, an angel-killer.

Then he stepped into focus. He was short, had jet black hair, black sun glasses, and a business suit on. His face looked amused, and I didn’t realize it when he extended his hand to me. “I am not a what, Mr. Koi. I am a who. A very important who at that. I am Yuu Eko, I’m sure you’ve-“ before he could finish his sentence I wrapped my own hand around his in an enthusiastic shake.

“Yes yes! Mr. Eko! Hello! I have heard about you!” I said eagerly, forgetting to let go of his hand for a minute so I nervously dropped it. I could see now why Mr. Callways was so nervous: Mr. Eko was the best agent in the history of agents. He birthed all the best actors: Nicolle Emmings, Kirth Depp, and my favourite; Lumionous Cruxay. He could take any unheard of crap actor and turn them into the next big thing. Wait, why was he talking to me then? My heart started to beat faster. Is he going to offer me a place under his glorious wings?!

Mr. Eko chuckled, retracting his hand to place it in his pocket. “I’d like to speak with you. I’m sorry I came at such a bad time, seeing as you’re in the middle of a scene, but…” he trailed off to imply his own importance, “I do hope we can find some time to discuss your future…” Suddenly he had a card in his hand, which he was extending to me. “With me as your agent.” He gave me a smile as I tried to hide my excitement when I took the card from his hand.

“Thank you! I-I’ll call you as… tonight!” I said, looking at the card. It was simple, white, with his information and five stars in the right hand corner. I knew I shouldn’t appear over eager; that was an important tip I learned. Yes it was slightly unprofessional to be taking tips from an acting book, but the author was Lumionous Cruxay himself! Lumionous was my idol, ever since I saw him acting in The Big Act.

And with that the ‘demi-god’ of agents walked away. He wanted me to work for him! I let out a squeal of joy once he was out of ear shot. Once anyone was out of ear shot, really.  My destiny in Japan was a shoo-in to happen now!

It has always been my dream to go to Japan. See, I already was Japanese; though my grandparents moved to America when they were teens and love birds. It’s not that I didn’t like America; it was fine and dandy. But I wanted to be the biggest J-actor ever seen. I probably was born quoting lines from Romeo and Juliet, and I practically forced my parents to sign me up for kid roles in movies all up to my teen years until I could do it myself. I was twenty-two now, and my lust for the big screen has only grown.

Mr. Eko was my big break. He himself was a Japanese agent; that gave me an advantage. I would be his first Japanese actor. And hopefully, the next big thing!

I waited until six o’ clock sharp to pick up my phone to call him, but that was too late. The little blue phone was blinking, which meant two things: My battery was dying, and there was a voice mail waiting for me. A sigh escaped my lips as I decided Mr. Eko would have to wait, I clicked the buttons to hear my message. The voice that started yelling at me caused me to groan…It was my best fren-enemy, Zane Leto.

“God Damnit, Nakatsu! Answer your phone, would you?! You know who this is. What happened to lunch at 2? I waited, and waited, and you didn’t show up! Where were you? Jerk. Call me back, pendejo.” His annoying voice rang in my head even after the message ended.

I just sent Zane a simple text before my phone died: Come to my house, now! And not ten minutes after I sent it, Zane was banging on my door, even though he lived about a mile away. He must’ve been truly angry, or he was in friend mode.

“I brought you the food you missed out on, jerk.” Zane snapped, throwing the brown bag at me as he sat down on my couch. Zane was a tall man, with spiky black and red hair and always wore the best clothing. If he wasn’t an actor he could’ve been a model; he was a total sex-icon for both women and men.

“I’m sorry… Someone, came to see me during my lunch break! Guess who!” I said nervously, grinning at him. Zane just cocked a eye brow at me so I continued, “Mr. Eko!” as soon as that name left my lips Zane let out a string of curse words.

“What did he want with you?” he growled, shooting me a glare.

“He wants me to work with him. Jealous?” I grinned, standing in front of the taller boy. Zane was an actor as well; we met at try outs for a spot in The Lions and Lionesses during high school. I got lead so he sort of hated me from then on, but we do give each other advice and function as normal friends.

Zane just rolled his eyes, shaking his head. “Whatever, you can think whatever you want. You’re gonna screw up, idiot.” He insulted casually as he got up to get a drink.

I just sighed and set the food down on my table to eat later. This was going to be great.

Quickly the next morning I talked with Mr. Eko’s assistant, as the man himself was (not surprisingly) busy.

“Yes, Mr. Eko would like you to come back Action! Studios on the 23rd, at ten am,” she giggled, “The best of luck to you.”

The appointment was July 23, two Saturdays from today. Could they choose a date more far away? A day that could cause me any more anticipation and anxiety? I took a deep breath, calming down. “Okay, Nakatsu, you can do this. You have two whole weeks… to prepare! Yeah!” he told himself, only interrupted by his phone ringing once more.

The id registered as Mom. How strange, she usually only called on Sundays... What was up?

“Yes, ma?” I answered, switching to Japanese.

My mom was giggling on the other end of the line as she was a very cheery woman. “NaNa, I want to come see you soon. You’re a big star now, huh? Don’t you have time for your mom?”

I rolled my eyes and grinned even though she couldn’t see it. “When do you want to come visit, ma?” I asked. The next words she spoke made me inwardly groan.

“The twenty third. I’ll be over at ten in the morning, so be awake!” without any questions, she then hung up.

So now I have two big issues: appointment, and my mom. “On the same day!” I groaned, plopping down on the couch. I can so handle this… right? I can’t tell my mom to come by at a later time…But I can’t reschedule either! And I still need to make up my lunch with Zane…

Without thinking my hands reached for Cut, Scene 1; the book by my beloved idol Lumionous. His words will sooth me! Quickly my fingers flipped through the pages to find a chapter on stress.

‘When you’re over stressed; take a break. You-time! Go for a walk in the park, take a long bath or shower (you probably need one, since you spend all of your time rehearsing!) or maybe just even watch a movie. Stress will break you down; don’t let it control you!’

Very wise words from a very wise man…. I decided to walk around the city’s park, even though it was usually crowded.

After ten minutes of walking, I had decided walking is for people without proper transportation and that I need a dog. It seemed everyone at the park had one. I was now seated on the bench, people watching.

Children laughed while at play, parents sat and tried to hold a rational conversation, couples stared lovingly into each other’s eyes, and shady men walked around. One particular man caught my eye; he was very tall, possibly taller than Zane whom stood at six foot one. He was looking around, as if thinking he would be caught. The man wore sun glasses and a large jacket, the usual shady man attire.

He looked very familiar….  A generic shady woman appeared beside him, grumbling something angry that cause the man to smirk. But when Nakatsu heard the man’s voice, he almost fell off the bench.

“I think we’re fine, Nicolle.” Lumionous Cruxay said flatly, earning a hit on the arm from Nicolle.

“Shut it!” she hissed, “We’re not here right now!”

What was holly wood’s biggest couple, Lumionous Cruxay and Nicole Emmings, doing in some crappy public park? My eyes stalked them as they walked around, their own eyes on anyone that was middle aged to teen aged and good looking. They even stared at me, but kept walking. Are they trying to avoid paparazzi?

I weighed the chances. Lumionous loved his fan girls; Nicolle just loved attention. If anything both of them would be walking around half naked for a camera’s flash or someone’s delighted scream. So this was very unusual of both of them… Maybe this was on location and I’m just a blind fool? I scanned the area for any camera men. None.

So what were they doing here, dressed all shady?

My train of thought was interrupted by my phone ringing. It was Zane again, and I answered with a grunt.

“Why would two attention seeking stars act shady in a park?” I asked him before he could say anything.

There was a grumble from the other line; a sign of actual thought process in Zane. “I don’t know! Maybe they want a life? Who cares? Listen, boy, I reserved a spot for you and us at Chocolate Delights. Celeste chose it…” he grumbled. It delighted the public that Zane had a twin, Celeste, whom often worked side by side with him in movies. But I never really talked to her; she had a lip on her worse than Zane’s.

I just sighed. I have too many appointments. “When?” I asked, “Can’t be the twenty third. I have too much stuff going on that day.”

“Hey idiot, you’re not the only one with a busy schedule that day. It’s tomorrow, midday. Be there.” Zane snapped, annoyed I would have conditions. “Celeste wants to know-”

My eyes were following the famous couple again, Zane fading into the background. I couldn’t hear what they were saying; but Nicolle was pissed. Lumionous was scratching something down on paper. Then finally Nicolle growled something I could make out, “The boy’s name is Nakaty or whatever. He thinks he’s hot s**t. We can’t risk him!”

I flinched, quickly telling Zane I had to talk to him later as I hung up. Lumionous glanced around the park and took Nicolle by the hand to depart the scene. What was that about? They can’t ‘risk’ me?

Scene 1

-Lumionous Cruxay-

Nakatsu was on Lumionous’ mind all afternoon. Even while he talked to his fan girls, his mind worked around that… problem. That issue. He could not have any one stealing his thunder; Lumionous was the only star that the movie screens needed! That’s how he saw it anyway.

Lumionous was sitting at home, getting ready to go to a fan signing. His conversation with Nicolle in the park was annoying, but at least he got the details he needed. He and Nicolle weren’t really together; they did that for publicity. In fact, Nicolle hated him. But Lumionous did have a small crush on her… She had a curvy body, long black hair with blond high lights, piercing angry green eyes, full pouty lips… And that attitude! He loved the attitude, loved the feisty nature. Really he hoped the fake relationship would develop into a real one.

But the roles and amount of lines he had in a movie were more important to him than anything else; even more important than breathing. His parents were actors, and his grandparents were stage entertainers (the actors of back in the day). It was natural for him to follow in their foot steps; to become the greatest next actor. He had a passion for it, and his parents were grateful for that. The celebrity had led a luxurious life style, even as a kid. Given what ever he wanted, his parents made sure his life would be great.

They even gave him the name Lumionous because it was unique and would gain attention.

Lumionous checked himself out in a full body mirror, smiling and striking poses. “No one can love you as much as yourself,” he reminded himself. On the outside, the side he showed the media, he was a generous passionate kind man. But unlike Nicolle he hid his real self: an egotistical attention hog. He had brought down anyone who got in his way, cleverly making it look like their own fault. “You’re next, Nakatsu,” he murmured, his usual cut throat attitude in play.

He had a picture of Nakatsu from his recent movie; Devil’s Cry. Nakatsu had charcoal black eyes, sandy brown wavy hair and a lean body. But Lumionous was far more gorgeous; with elegant shoulder length styled black hair (his hair colour often changed colour though), thin night black eyes, and a tall frame. And with smile that could win the heart of any woman (or man!), and wit and charm to gain the approval of any company.

Okay, Lum, he thought to himself as he tried on smiles, you sign a few papers. Hug a few girls, take a few pictures. Maybe even kiss a few cute ones, just to see how they’ll react. Maybe they’ll die from happiness. With a cocky grin, Lumionous changed into a tight black shirt that showed off his chest with a loose jacket, and matching belted pants. His acting in Devil’s Cry was actually pretty good…. Lumionous didn’t notice his thoughts yet again drifting back to Nakatsu, He’s going to be fun to tear apart.
