Envolpe

Envolpe

A Poem by Eric Zavala

I'm stuck out here at war
I don't get your letters anymore
I don't know if you have lost hope
I wait to see your name on a envelope
I wait to hear there's mail for me
Your smile is all I see
I think they won't come today
Cause you had to get some more ink
The reality starts to sink
I feel like a machine that's out of order
I just stand here at the border
Waiting for you
To come and turn me on
But this feeling is never gone
Out here it's guns against guns
And men against men
All my thoughts are written in pen
They never wipe away
They are hidden during the day
But I'm still forced to write
I have wrote a thousand letters to you at night
But none of them are sent
This is how they went
Without you I'm broken not just bent
Why haven't you wrote
A letter or even a small note
2 years down the road
I still live by this code
I'm done with my tour
I still think about you more and more
I wait for you everyday
Even tho you are gone away
I still have the last envelope
It's my only thin piece of hope
