Matchstick

Matchstick

A Poem by Eric Zavala

I hear My watch go tick tick tick
I'm about to snap like a matchstick
Don't get to close I might explode
Run away before I have time to reload
And when it all comes out
You won't have time to shout
Or run to a safe place
I will be standing in your face
And I will let it all go
My One final blow
And you will crack the ground
You should be more afraid of the lighting
Because the thunder is just a sound
One flash of my power
You will be falling like a heavy tower
And after the fight
I know I will struggle later the night
Not because I care
But because I couldn't change what happened there
I would have thrown one more punch
Let him have my fist for lunch
But instead of tearing off his head
And making sure he wakes up wishing he was dead
I don't let my rage erupt
My thinking won't be corrupt
And yea he might be lucky today
Because I decided not to fire away
I just listen to my watch go tick tick tick
I decide not to break you like a matchstick
