Life boat

Life boat

A Poem by Eric Zavala

Your heart is heavy
But it keeps me afloat
Your love is my savior
It's like my life boat
Things get harder
After each hit by each wave
No matter how hard it gets
"I love you"are the words my ears crave
Even if I'm alone and cold
And soaked from the water
The only thing keeping me going
Is the thought of our future son and daughter
They probably told you I'm gone
Lost out to sea
But I'm hanging on
Not only to life
But the memory of you and me
So as I sing
A dry lullaby
I search the heavens
For a metal bird in the sky
And as I watch my feelings grow
My body starts to decay
I go on Both of my knees
And start to pray
To finally be found
To hear your voice would be the perfect sound
That night
I was having a midnight dream
I heard A metal bird
And your scream
I opened my eyes and I was so happy
To be going home
When I was there
It was just me and you all alone
And I told you what I learned
Your heart is heavy
But it kept me afloat
Your love is my savior
It acts like my life boat

I wanted to use it is my life boat I did change it slightly because I knew these were going to be the last lines

Endearing to the end ---
the piece just keeps pace ---
and the ending goes back ---
to the repeating line ---
and sends this home...

----

Your heart is heavy
But it keeps me afloat
Your love is my savior
It's like my life boat
------
Your heart is heavy
But it kept me afloat
Your love is my savior
It acts like my life boat

I wonder if you wanted to use "acts like" in the last line:

It acts like my life boat...

or

It is my life boat...
