Every Footprint a Grave
by xAshRx Every footprint is a grave Every thought is another person You replace the wheels of a car Motor, gears, transmission, every piece Is it still the same car? Are we still the same people? We feel as.there's a million people in our heads Maybe there really are Some echoes of the dying Reciting word of mouth tales of the death And some, zygotes Waiting to be born Dissolve et coagula cell by cell Death by birth by death Each sentient sentiment sediment Short lifespans of instant gratifiers The one who deals with the consequences Is never the one who set things in motion I woke up today with a thought I'll go to bed with a different one And never remember either I give a moment of silence for every one of me forgotten Who's gonna be walking around in my skin tomorrow? © 2021 Austin Wade RunyonAuthor's Note
