A poem about the a concept I contemplated while on acid.

The Cosmic Filter

To people who think the universe is trying to talk to you
All the schizophrenics and paranoid maniacs
You're not wrong
Thought is the universal filter for the machinations of the cosmos
We are all catalysts for the universe to understand
Some more caustic than others
As we are the universe trying to understand itself
A collective intelligence separated into pieces
Experiences as individuals amassed into one universal entity
The pain one feels is the pain that we all feel
This is the great depression spread amongst us
That I know you feel
Something is terribly wrong
*They*, whoever *they* are, want us to know
Unfortunately we are not yet equipped to know
And the harrowing dread we must live with
What is so important
That *they* or *it* or whatever
Would risk driving us mad to tell us?
