Chapter 4--" Something that Resembled Chicken Nuggets..."A Chapter by EH MarcsBack by popular demand! ... Well, not really.Lol. Chapter 4 of my story. Enjoy!
After Tod's graduation party, my Mom took Rita, Greg, and me to a restaurant. Dont ask her how she made this decision. I knew when she said Im gonna take you somewhere special we were going somewhere far from special. It was going to be a place with stuffed dead animals on the wall, tounge hanging out and all, and the only thing they served there was their special. And Id rather not go into detail of what the special was. Not to mention the fact that the waiter seemed to have blood painted on his apron and a butcher knife tightly clentched in his hand. Alright, not really. But he should of. I let my head fall to the table. Oww. Gotta stop doing that.
Greg and Rita seemed to enjoy the food. I ordered somthing that resembled chicken nuggets. They didnt look half bad, aside from the fact that when cut in half you could see raw meat. I looked at the waiter with disbelief. He smiled a smile that told me Eat it or youre going to be a sidedish I smiled nervously in response, placing one toward the back of my mouth. Something told me that the health inspector was in here somewhere. In the food or chucked in the freezer. Your choice. I sighed. This was going to be a long summer and it already was starting off bad. In fact I started to think about it. This was going to be a real long summer. Hours upon hours spent at home. I even thought I'd miss Greg. Though, watching him chew with his mouth open made it hard for me to use the word miss. But I smiled again. My big bro. Heading off to college. Good boy. There would finally be peace and tranquillity at home again. Just me and mom. I sighed. Just me. I sighed while looking out the window. This was definately going to be a long summer and I was not looking forward to it. But before I could finish Rita grabbed my hand and was pulling me towards the bathroom. I never got to tell you my idea! she said while fixing her hair in the mirror, adding another coat of lipstick. Whatd I tell you! She'd tell me later. Boy, she had the perfect hair. I looked at myself. I leaned closer to squint. I wasnt a work of art, but I was there. I had long orange hair that went to my elbows. Small freckles scattered across my cheeks and nose. Green tee, blue jeans. That's all. But oh yes, Rita was telling me something. Whats your big plan Rita? I asked. Well, Tod is having a graduation party and guess whos invited? I thought it over. Me and Rita? Rita was getting impatient because I wasnt telling her my answer quick enough. I thought Id play with her. I now made sure I really took a long time. I dont know Rita, youve got me stumped. I released a small laugh to show my humor. Rita sighed again rolling her eyes but laughed with me. US! Duh? Tod invited us after he got his diploma today My ears perked up to what she said. I was going to be able to go my first huge party with teens my age. The last party I had been invited to was for a bunch of little todlers who found it hard to actually put food in their mouths. Dont get me wrong, I love little kids but after a fews hours with Mr. Goldfish-can-fly-and-so-can-I and Ms. Pee Wee, I think that youd want to be invited to a party with less work and cleaning. This was a dream come true. Maybe this summer wouldn't be half that bad. I watched Rita comb her hair once more, then she turned to me. Smiling. No, no. Something was wrong. I sighed heavy. Here was Rita's chance to pair me up with someone. "Here we go..." I grumbled. "Oh, c'mon! You need a boy friend. How are you going to go through the summer and maybe even the next year of school without a boyfriend. Oh and by the way, I dumped Otis. We were so not working out. And to think he'd rather hang out with those gorillas in pants he calls friends than with me." Rita finished with a fluff of her hair and sigh. "Rita, no. I --" I froze. I knew good and well that Rita would never take 'no' for an answer. I had to think fast. I let my teeth rake my top lip and then looked back to Rita who was still droning on about -- something?? To avoid Rita's attempt at matchmaking, I'd have to end this before it starts. "Okay Rita, alright! I'll go and I'll be on the look out. But promise me this; Don't help." I closed my eyes and opened them with a sigh a relief, hopefully this plan would work. Rita scrunched her lips to the corner of her mouth with disappointment, but I could tell that she was letting me slide. "Fine." she grumbled, "I guess you're a big girl now, I can't keep reeling em' in everytime." That was Rita for you. Always feeling like she was such a charity giver. I rolled my eyes and she gave me a hug. We walked out the bathroom and headed back to our area. Greg and Mom were ready to go. I made sure I grabbed a comments card right after my Mom paid the waiter. I gave him a wink. The waiter just smiled. Minus the teeth. © 2008 EH MarcsAuthor's Note
