DerideA Poem by Wynter Ignatius
Absent thought
Tiny glow from false idols Hoarding in tune Shuffling masses united Untied personal bonds Derived from digital lip service Scorn the few Not leashed To fashion Or scandal Free the chains Outside the box Conscience thoughts provoke Lynch mobs to fester Pounds of flesh Taken from heart Ripped apart Zombies to the fallow feast Consuming just enough Sating temporary craving In lieu a proper meal Tenderizing future meals Beyond black and blue Till crimson flows From unseen wounds Demanding more and more From dry wells so disgusted With the world around Caving in Pressure is too deep Sunrise and sunset Clocking in another day Punching in Punching out Alarms fall short Impetus meets the wall We created Brick by bloody brick Bones and flesh Cementing it all in place Our personal shade Becomes looming shadow The darkness we all keep Timid whispers wrought of shouts To no one Going no where Taking its toll Begins again And again Just enough light To make tomorrow happen Walking the fringe Boarders of our minds Fragile cracks with every step Yet we walk out further Overreaching Yearning for a mirage Promising the moon Flashing with stars Never there A warning light Moths to hottest flame Still we move and sway Into the lips of a burning kiss Stained black Thickened ash warns With every embrace Held tight Scoffing our forefathers Lessons they declared Because we know better Showing it truly Mockingly Without remorse © 2015 Wynter Ignatius |
