Constructing an Empty Home

Constructing an Empty Home

A Poem by Wynter Ignatius
"

Sometimes we build up nothing believing it is something.

"

Pouring on more layers
Before the others settle
Feet cold and confined
Within unkempt framework
Disrepair a subject of apathy
Yet building a foundation upon
Suspended feeling hung bare
Trying to raise walls around
Absent blueprints or solid plan
Bricks and mortar strewn about
To walk away for a time
Expecting it to build itself up
Without raising hand to work
To make a home for two hearts
Constructed by a worn down past
