Pride in Her Eyes

Pride in Her Eyes

A Poem by Wynter Ignatius
"

The picture spoke to me...

"
When taken with soft glances,
Her dark pools reflect wariness,
Yet deeper looks find strength,
Measured in most timid escapes,
Hunter and lover all the same.

With a grace in subtle footing,
Stalking out in bleakest night,
Clearly weathering the errant storms,
Holding together the pride carried,
Deep in chest upon every beat.

Unquestionably guarding her own,
Warning with the sweetest roar,
Claws and teeth kept in reserve,
For no desperate folly fought,
Will befoul her regal majesty.

Cubs and competition freely flow,
Crashing waves giving and taking,
Territory clearly marked in scars,
Scent of truth drowing out,
Vacant lies sported by prey.

Beside mane of equal king,
Service given with joyous vigor,
Be he serf or stately prince,
Bound by pride they hold dear,
Unflinching resolve plain to see.

That's cool that a picture can inspire so much! I liked this and the third verse was especially well written along with the rest. Great job with the description too
