Volume of SilenceA Poem by Wynter IgnatiusA little something I put together over the silence I am getting from someone.A
pin drop, The
echo, A
cacophony, A
destructive harmony, To
bleeding ears, Wanton
of ringing, Fading
melody, Even
a simple whisper, To
escape in measure, A
precipice of madness.
Caged
in silence, Banging
of head, Against
bars of empty sighs, Barren
ground below, A
flat-line waveform of hope, Screaming
to be heard, A
titular lion’s roar, Carried
forth, On
atrophied vocal chords.
Taken
captive by drum beat, Not
of your own, Held
in place, By
a simple silence, Commanded
by another, Chained
of empty words, Mired
in this quietus, Haloed
in this dead air, Sulking
in a mute reprieve.
Shaking
your fist, A
rising resonance of rebellion, A
personal war chant, In
this pitch battle, Shattering
the iron curtain, By
speaking softly, Murmuring
twisting the key, Liberation
given by inner voice.
This
song only know, A
hymn strait from the heart, By
a choir found deep inside, Needing
no accompaniment, Operatic
tones filling the air, Trumpeting
a solo this day, Music
to walk out to, Resonating
notes of the soul. © 2014 Wynter IgnatiusReviews
