Wistful BanalityA Poem by Wynter IgnatiusFor friend needed a change - find your way to better days Julie. This
longing is growing thin, stretched
long to and cracked, unable
to snap back in place, stinging
raw within rare return.
Sweetheart
turns sour with time, an
advertisement says otherwise, taking
for granted the young love, turncoat
of promises buried deep.
Deserving
a greater weight now, when
pain tips scale in direction, towards
the black and the grim, past
takes form as future’s desires.
The
sediment of false hope thick, words
as empty actions undelivered, only
tears and shouting bring reprieve, by
one who should know much better.
If
there enough of you to leave this, to
give it a go again with healing time, someone
with respect and admiration, rather
than leaving a darkened wake.
Don’t
give into a cliché nostalgic past, when
the chains it brings bounds tight, noose
of memories slowly choking out, life
from soul that could burn so bright.
Consider
a better future your reward, for
taking a risk and departing a louse, even
solo trek better than the contempt, given by rake with claims to no heart. © 2014 Wynter IgnatiusFeatured Review
