Living in My Own ShadowA Poem by Wynter IgnatiusMy own worst enemies are a team of my own personal inhibitions and demons. It
is so dark here, though
not by design, shadowed
by a colossus, a
reverse homunculus looms, over
the tiny light below, struggling
to breathe under foot, at
the creation of this demon.
As
home is built from the shade, using
the only materials to bare, all
moves overshadowed, silent
figure with burning eyes, ever
watching my every move, judging
my every step, giving
no quarter when asked.
The
eclipsed light escapes, silhouetted
by trepidatious fears, time
spent looking for an out, from
under a deeper shade of me, stalked
by a constant gloom so close, hunted
for the skin left bare, shamed
by my own devices. © 2014 Wynter IgnatiusReviews
