Weight of a DressA Poem by Wynter IgnatiusFor a friendThis
looming fabric shades Diming
light around you Covering
up the flames Smothering
hopes and dreams Brought
to your knees Buy
dress so heavy
You
swim in cloth Clawing
for your breath Brought
down by threads Woven
for a night Not
one your own Drowning
over silken apparel
To
hear many say Do
not fret over Single
night of many Yet
trepidation sinks in Sewing
you to dress More
than it should
Gravity
of a presentation To
woman in white Not
guest so true Looks
not a concern Worrying
over past form Yet
a beauty today
Thread
it not lead Cloth
is not sloth Silk
not your ilk Dress
far from mess You’re
far more than Weight
of that dress © 2014 Wynter Ignatius |
