Abstain

Abstain

A Poem by Wynter Ignatius

Tell me a story and I'll cut off my ears
As for much you say is not as it appears

Stories you lay out change, twist and unfold
You've given into advice from others so bold

Whisper you love me and see me break
For those words for you are a later mistake

Recant what you've said to me so sweetly
For you'll leave without warning, discreetly

Dissenting comments about others in your life
Yet quiet about me as a guise to avoid strife

Now blame takes form in sordid turn
Letters unwritten now surely fated to burn

Scales out of balance yet ignored for spite
Words and actions of mine now labeled as sleight

Spin a yarn about trying again when closer
Yet tales still regale me much more the poser

So I unwind and mull my own intentions of past year
After all I've felt and done without shedding tear

Yet again you finish with a bang. Your last line wraps everything up nicely, as well as showing a certain defiance. Excellent job.
