Blocks

Blocks

A Poem by Wynter Ignatius
"

Because of various reasons for her safety and security from scrutiny, my ex-girlfriend and I kept our relationship relatively a secret. I had a harder time with it than she did.

"
Comments censured for safety
Eyes everywhere, judging all they see
Without spoken word, questioning not
Distance measured in miles
Now marked by city blocks
Still blocked, still denied a look
To see you again, no digital front
Face to face, soul to soul
Blocked from sleep, mind and heart
Heavy knowing such little distance
Still blocks us for a time
City blocks I would walk
A million times over just to say "hi"
To rest eyes upon, unspoken truth
Blocks I don't despise yet recognize
For they don't block my heart
