Sacrifice

Sacrifice

A Poem by Wynter Ignatius
"

I've always been a fairly good about being a giving person, especially to those I feel a connection to. Still, many, including my ex-girlfriend seem to think I'm piling up credit or a tab.

"
The sacrifice I make for you
Not intended as a debt
But rather for your benefit
Something hoping not to forget
Wanting to bring you joy
At sacrifice of tool or toy
Your issue far more important
Grand scheme of things, absent scheming
Hoping only the best your you
And your own part of you too
A bit less for me in the physical sense
Might bring you some happiness
Absent any payback or favor on return
I don't feel you need that held against you
Seeing how your situation has been
How could one sit and say "oh well"
Not this man, not a martyr or saint
Just trying to make things right
A small sacrifice I made last night
