I Fail You

I Fail You

A Poem by Wynter Ignatius
"

Ex-girlfriend wanted some financial help and I could not aid her without putting myself out. She was not exactly happy with it - should have seen the signs on the wall.

"
I feel sometimes I fail you
For apart we are so very far
Pains me to see you so sad
For he seems to be looking for a fight
And I am not there to help you out

To hold you hand
Or be there with open arms

Anger his tool of control over you
Matters not gender of who you talk to
I know you say I help
In more ways than you often say
And while I believe you my beloved
I still feel sometimes I fail you

Wish there was an easy fix
A way to whisk you away from all this
Help heal the pain
Lick your wounds
Give you all you deserve and more
Yet I fall short of that ultimate goal

Without transport of reliable end
Wanting to see you safe, relaxed
Smiling without many cares in mind
Unable to deliver even a flowered "hi"
I feel sometimes I fail you

Trapped in a place, sequestered from friends
Unable to call those who love you
Unable to get close enough to hold
Tired and unable to sleep
In pain and unable to get sympathy
The one who should be there unable to be
I feel sometimes I fail you

I don't want to feel like this
Even if it is not all the time
Feel I owe you more, want to help
Unable to lift a finger more
Than I already do
Waiting for this to all end
Making things better for you
Wanting desperately to not fail you
