Burning Forests

Burning Forests

A Poem by Wynter Ignatius
"

I'm going to have to look into where this came from.

"
Like embers falling on dry leaves
You have set my heart ablaze
Forests of my soul all aglow
Burning down all the old
Making room for the new

Wasted landscapes left silent
Ashen logs reminders of the past
Yet enriched is the ground for the new
Growth upon the foundation of tragedy
May take a lifetime before splendour abounds

Beautiful serenity grown from barren fields
As ancient oaks grow entwined
While no longer a sapling I will grow with you
Adding rings to the measure of our years
Learned from the ashes of our past

Each our own seeds upon the world
No need to spark any more
Without any desire to tarnish our love
No more ash or cinders needed for either of us
Kindled my spirit has become

Burning the forests of my past
I started without you
Process quickened by your care
Stoking the fires, blowing away the smoke
Only fire I now hold is my love for you.
