My Son

My Son

A Poem by Wynter Ignatius
"

This was wrote after the divorce started between my second wife and I, mother to our son. This is a moment in time that I will share with him as he gets older.

"

My reflection to the world
The wonder you behold
My time with you so short
As I get my life on track
Yet very precious and dear
More I want but obligations hinder
Bachelor in residence and funds
My work is never done
I want you to see the world
As I have never done
I can hope for your future
And help you get over the past
Things between your mother and I
Fixing them is beyond my ability
Nor shall I if I was able
Someday I hope you understand
Some things in life come to pass
But I can be here for you
And I will be here for you
As your father
As your confidant
As your right-hand man
For you are my son
