Ideals in Euphoria

Ideals in Euphoria

A Poem by Wunderlich
"

It's really hard to bring forth change.

"
We were so drunk that we thought we were sober
Every drop of liquor made us think we could change the world
We were on our feet, so incredibly eager
Someone cracked another can and we fell down plastered
Staring at the ceiling like we're examining a mural
We laughed and crashed and our idealist words spilt over

We wanted to navigate this boat in the right direction
So happy we didn't notice we took a direct hit
We stumbled around with pales in our hands as water rushed in
Lying on our backs we stacked our jacks beneath his chin
We lit them all and watched them burn, the smoke swallowed him
We couldn't see, we didn't need to, we just wanted this to end

We were so drunk that we passed out and fell over
Every drop of liquor dropped us lower in this world
We wanted to change this change but were out of quarters
Now we're under and can't stand the noise getting louder
We just want to forget and watch from somewhere far away
We just want to live in mist so we don't have to see the decay
