Frostbite

Frostbite

A Poem by Wunderlich
"

I've done some fucked up things & I know those who were affected by them will never forget them and haven't truly forgiven me. Then again I'm a paranoid, self-berating a*s.

"
Arctic wind and hollow screams
Echoing in freezing caves
It's too late to change your life
You tried and failed but that's all right

The easiest thing to do is the hardest to accept
When frostbite won't let go it's good to know
That there's always something left

Negative 72
Pulling you back through shadows
And sorrows that just won't let go
But you know when it warms up it's okay

When tears freeze they tear off skin
They remind you you are human
Mistakes and apologies made
But they still frown at the sight of your face
And they still cringe at the mention of your name

Frostbite creeps into your heart
Pumping memories through your arteries
Reminding you of what you did
You can say sorry but they don't give a s**t
Ultimately penance won't change this

The hardest thing to accept is the easiest to do
When frostbite won't let go it's good to know
There's still something left for you

Swollen words and synthetic pride
Keep you alive in the tundra
Keep your sun up bright and shining
But all this lying's intoxicating

Never forgiven
A snake stuck in its skin
The desire to shed
Will never end
