Unwelcome hands in our health-care plans
Promises broken by a hope-promoting
Egocentric, Mr. President
You lied when you said that they had time
To read and make sense of every line
Your actions sour, your words sugar
You've pushed too hard, went too far
Your czars are living in the dark
So you think it's okay to take away
Everything that that man's been building?
The people look puzzled, their voices muffled
Someone sees the strings and tries to say something
But in the blink of an eye, you've erased his life
Everybody watches with milky white eyes
Everybody's so down they're happy to be blind
Your intention malign, your presence a crime
And I really do try to look at the light
But the clouds are so thick I got lost in it
You are proably too young to remember when health plans covered all illneses; then as health care bean crunchers came into play egged on by greedy shareholders, they devised the co-pay (anywherre form $15 to $25 depending on which type of Dr. you visit), then they reduced what the Dr.s received for an office visit and insurance toom more of the money intended for Dr.s.
All medicines were covered; there was no scuh thng as a brand name or generic, just medicine, now medicines are divided by generic and brand name; Dr.s receive less from insurance companies for an office visit and if you have a pre-existing condidiion, you cannot get coverage at all or if for some reason neglect to mention that you had a case of acne when you were six-teen, your coverage could be dropped without notice.
I understand that insurance companies have a right to earn a profit, but of all of the entities that have come foward to say what they are willing to put on the table to make this thing work, the insurance companies have been noticeably quiet.
You can blame the President if you want, but just ask the Republican what they propose. I haven't heard anything of substance. Oh, yeah, I did hear them say, "no." I will tell you this, if we do nothing, I can assure you that insurance prices will continue to rise and fewer people will have healthcare. I hope that you are not one of them. Take care, My Friend.
