My Medusa

My Medusa

A Poem by Wunderlich

Wrote this a few days ago.

"

Every little thing a boulder on my back
Atlas, how do you take it?
If she would show me the same pity
Maybe I would be okay
Turn me into stone to be alone
I'm stoned, but I can't let it go
I see the water wrap around my feet
Swimming is something I can't do
So I'm going to crawl into the ocean just for you

Trying to throw all my thoughts away
Leads to accepting defeat
Victory is sweet, but it's not for me
At least that's what I'm getting
All these problems drag me to the ocean floor
Enduring this is something I can't do
So I'm going to look into your eyes just to lose

I look out at the smiling sea

Her open arms welcoming me

In mythology (this is a variation) Atlas was supposedly turned to stone (where the Atlas Mountains currently stand) by Athena, who revealed Medusa's decapitated head to him out of pity after Atlas drove Perseus away.

Wow, seriously one of the best pieces I've seen in awhile here.

I really liked how you wove the mythology into the first person viewpoint. My own suggestion is to use some well placed punctuation.

For example: Every little thing(,) a boulder on my back

Other than that, a really enjoyable read.

So did the person drown? seeing as he can't swim? I do so enjoy greek mythology.
