Indefinitely Dreaming

Indefinitely Dreaming

A Poem by Wunderlich
"

Wrote this for James E. Green's Quick Contest no2. I'm not entirely fond of it, but here it is.

"

Hopeless and hapless
Yet
Unrelenting and ceaseless
Just
Stupid and desperate
So
Cut my dreams and wake me up

Words plastered to my throat
These searing embers are stubborn
I tell myself with meager force
That this ending is fantastic
Perfection, everything I could want
But it's a shadow in reality
Cast by a starving tree

I will curse your name
Wish horrors upon you
Disease upon your family
My words are hollow
My tongue trembles
But I assure you, in silent confession
These tears are authentic

Hunting the fairy tale again
Anguish clutching my hands the entire way
Frantic, illusive vision
Enveloping this insane reality

If I cannot wake up
If my sanity's too drunk
Please forgive me
Then pull the plug

I like how each stanza is stylized to suit yourself, it makes the poem quite unique! It is quite confusing combining reality with fantasy on a story level. Nice spill!

Thanks. I appreciate this. The poem is good and very interesting. I'm curious about the last line. What exactly did you mean by "Then Pull the Plug?"
