Front Page Beauty

Front Page Beauty

A Poem by Wunderlich
"

I was inspired to write this after reading J. Black's poem "Magazines Kill."

"
You're so, beautiful
Your touch, is so cold
Your eyes, pretty sight
Your soul, an empty hole

Perfection is perception of an individual
Universal publications of this are so shallow
Conformity to magazines is nothing that we need
Impressionable misunderstood targeting the weak

Physically aesthetic yet so mentally abhorrent
Powerful epidemic spreading anorexia
Pleasing to the eye and easily forgetting the mind
Revolting and repulsive and undyingly repelling

The beauty of the cover over the emaciated pages
What you see is what you get and what you get is nothing but s**t

i love this write. so intense, & so raw & honest. we are fed image after image of air-brushed, cut-up clones in magazines, on tv, everywhere we look. as if true beauty, what makes a person beautiful, their uniqueness, their soul, their humanity, does not exist anymore. i love the powerful statements you make here "Perfection is perception of an individual Universal publications of this are so shallow Conformity to magazines is nothing that we need Impressionable misunderstood targeting the weak". & sadly, it not only is harming us as a society, little girls that are given this unattainable goal to reach, but also the poor 'beautiful' models whose beauty is exploited, then tossed out when they turn 21. a very deep & truthful write. brilliant.

This is such an excellent write!
"The beauty of the cover over the emaciated pages
What you see is what you get and what you get is nothing but s**t"
Very true.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
and the media depicts perfection as cardboard thin with no brains.
Humans weren't born to be skeletons.
Kick a*s write.

very strong ideas there. i'm deeply intrigued at how this poem may seem offensive to some people in said industry being criticized and also at how true it is beyond all what's reality.

i somehow find your perception of this commercial pandemonium we call fashion more of a truth than mere opinion.

moving. profoundly moving.

Wow! Surprised by this poem....
I know, one should not place
all men in one category.
But, I am surprised to hear a man
turned off by the so called 'fashion queens'.
aka fashion models in all those magazines
that I don't touch.

To think I was once so close to making that
my career.
