Higher

Higher

A Poem by Wunderlich
"

I wonder what this could be about...

"

Take me above the reaches of the fire
Where its fingers can stretch no

Higher

Take me to a land where I won't tire
Of everything so quickly

Take me higher

Lighter than the spark that flies in the wind
Lighter than the thought of the happiest man
Lighter than the thought of perfect beauty
Lighter than the light that incites faithful hands
Lighter than the god that they wave for in heaven

Make me higher
Destination is nigher
But I
Am not quite exulted
Rather insulted
That you would think
That this is high enough
Take me higher

Follow the notes that dance from the choir
Into the open air where they can only take me

Higher

Tiptoe across the telephone wire
Grab onto a bird so it can take me

Higher

Where the clouds are hobbits and the sky is their shire
Through the neverending depths of space

Take me higher

Hmm. I'll make an educated guess: is this about striving for perfection? For going beyond the mundane and obtuse?

Make me higher
Destination is nigher
But I
Am not quite exulted
Rather insulted
That you would think
That this is high enough
Take me higher

These could be the lyrics to some song. I like how the flow goes on easily, unhindered, and it kinda rolls off smoothly. Nice.
