Our Stagnant Earth

Our Stagnant Earth

A Poem by Wunderlich

Oh, this melody is forever repeating
My head feels like a cascading waterfall
In the grasp of the never ending drawl

Oh, how your static voice was just repetitious noise
My ears feel like a never ending tunnel
With cars speeding through its lightless hollows

Oh, your apology lacks any kind of meaning
My heart feels like a disregarded child
Frozen in this winter's guile

Oh, your farewell is an emptied out shell
The departue feels like a passing disease
Autumn ridding the tree of its last green leaf

Oh, your entire life is laden with guise
A priest preying like a serial killer
An officer busting his personal dealer

Oh, your glowing sky ensnares my eyes
Burdened clouds rise but forget to mention
Sullen and aimless they lack direction

Quite creative. My favorite line would have to be "A priest preying like a serial killer". Seems like an interesting word choice, preying. Preying sounds like praying, how funny that they are so different in meaning! I enjoyed reading this.

I fell in love with these lines. Sharp juxtaposition! Hmm. You're really fond of repetition, aren't you? :)
