This is truly what most "normal" females want. As women, we are endowed with the 'nesting' hormone that makes us want a good man. Sure, we love to play games and that includes our mate. If he doesn't want to play, we don't play. My man was a good man. You know what he said when I told him I'd had an abortion many years ago? He said, "Don't feel guilty, G. You did what you thought was best. Your baby is in Heaven waiting to greet you." Now I know Mark will be there, too. Thank you, Trace for this beautiful poem.

I wrote this about my mother. She was never "LUCKY IN LOVE" until she met her 7th husband.

She isn’t asking for much. Her needs are quite basic and yet sadly they aren’t met. A sad situation for sure. Some go through life without ever feeling happy and fulfilled. A poem of regret Trace, you have penned so well. All good wishes.
i will never stop feeling shocked by how little people really ask for and how so many do not get this. i know so many people who have such modest needs that go unmet, much like the persona of this work. while the ending was despondent, it is also truthful. the world is not fair. and many like our heroine here do not find 'Someone to share, someone to care, And whisper: I love you.'

To quote Tom Hanks in You've got Mail ... "Sometimes a guy (gal) just wants the impossible."
and from As Good as it Gets, "Why can't I have a normal boyfriend?!" ... "Everyone wants that dear."
... And from you, a compelling, engaging poem, superbly written! :)

Too bad she based her happiness on a man. I loved this guy for ten years. We always knew...just knew we'd end up together. Christmas of the tenth year(last year 2023) I got notified he'd burned up in a mysterious house fire. He never smoked and was a Navy Seal so he knew danger. Merry Christmas! I still grieve and do a lot of stupid things because of my grief. He was not just a man. He was my best friend. His brother took in my kid when he didn't have anywhere else to go. We both have kids named the same. I believe he was my life's mate. No one can ever take his place. I love him but I hate him. Even though I'm sad, I'm also happy because I know he's in Heaven waiting for me. No one will ever have my heart but him.
She just wanted someone to love. Some find it, some never do.
