Just Waiting

Just Waiting

A Poem by Trace
"

a poem about the autumn of our lifes

"

The Autumn of my life is upon me,

Reflecting hastens the burn,

Melancholy moments and sunrises,

Just waiting for the last leaf to turn.

Wow, my friend....you are so reflective in these last two poems I read. Indeed, melancholy sets in as the years pass. So many people who meant so much are gone and we wonder when it will be our turn. I think you have a lot of life left to live, Trace. Great write. Lydi**

Like the last tick on a timer.
Over. But there's always starting over.

"When I was seventeen, it was a very good year"...remember that song by ole' blue eyes? That is what this poem reminds me of, Trace. The melancholy is rich and bittersweet, but so beautiful!

My pleasure, my cafe friend!
Stark, brief and to the point. A sentiment we all reflect upon as the years slip from our grasp.

Hey, you are younger than I am, Trace....we just keep on keepin' on!
This reminds me a bit of the antithesis to "Rage, rage against the dying of the light"... This is a resignation of the waiting that comes as we grow older and find ourselves facing new "seasons". I like the quiet honesty of this one, and the language is lovely as well.

Gee
Loved this, it has a resigned calmness to it. Can relate this to my own mum.

Yes, fall is almost upon us...but you in the autumn of your life...I find that hard to believe...
Still I love the melancholy feel to this one Trace.

A pensive personification of Fall, awaiting Old Man Winter to snatch your breath away. Poignantly penned.
