Autumn's Muse

Autumn's Muse

A Poem by Trace
"

My favorite poem about my favorite season

"

Whisper soft on summer’s eve
Sultry warmth of starlit bright
Moonbeams glow endearing dreams
Hold me close throughout the night,

Autumn's rumor mere days away
Misty morning dew on lawn
Sleep comes easy, breezes blow
Waking with the stillest dawn,

Leaves know of the change to come
Preparing to depart their home
Falling free, from mother tree
Leaving branches there alone,

The seasons change preparing for
Winters bristling chill and cold
Autumn's muse coaxes me to
Collect my thoughts from days of old,

The beauty of the season shows
Of poets pen in verse and prose.

Autumn certainly was a muse for this lovely poem. The one line that seemed to spoil the rhythm a bit was "Autumns muse coaxes me to". I thought of alternatives, and suddenly I got it, but when I looked at your poem again, the line I got was the one you wrote! So now all I can think of is the possessive apostrophe: Autumn's.

I meant the two "Autumns" in the poem itself. Sorry about not specifying that; the title's fine.

Autumn is my absolute favorite time of year. The smooth rhythm made your poem a delight to read. It made me think of Utah. How the mountains bubble with gold, red, and green. Made my heart so happy!

I gravitate to this especially but the whole poem is wonderfully written.

One cannot help but be inspired by autumn. It's rich colors dance in the doorway between summer and winter, with the pulse of promise that she will return. The closing two lines are perfect!

Not a bad shot. Kinda rhythmic & quite evocative to be read. Sounds you be talking here 'bout "memories" in guise of "autumn muse" that has enough of to speak the heart, deeply. Quite interesting!

Oh, this is exemplary, what a gorgeous way to bring in the season. I wrote a poem for Fall, Autumn's muse apparently wasn't as kind to me, I think I'm deleting it after reading this lush piece of striking poetry!
