Secret DesireA Poem by TraceFrom my "Desires Series"
It started one day in the springtime
A flower was placed on her chair
With out a note, no reason or rhyme
Nobody knew from whom or where,
He told himself, it could never be
She would never be interested in him
And it was more than easy enough to see
The chance for love was less than slim,
For he was just a working Joe
And she was from a different class
There was no way that she could know
He viewed her through a looking glass,
Yet unbeknownst to him, it appears
That she was also sad and lonely
Between her own contradictions and fears
Still looking for her one and only,
He snuck the flowers every now and then
And she would pick them up and smile
Though she didn’t know just how or when
He enjoyed seeing her happiness for a while,
Then one day he got up the mettle
Though he didn’t let her know it was he
But a single rose with pink colored petals
Place on her desk with this simple decree,
“I have wondered for what seems like forever
And I’ve worried you would push me away
Could I get up the nerve and endeavor
If I were to ask you out, what would you say?
Forgive me for being presumptuous
But I must finally be bold and inquire
For I no longer want to be anonymous
Because you are my Secret Desire.
