VagabondsA Poem by TraceA poem for my BrotherTumbleweeds tumble, which way the wind blows Memories wither and fade Ashes to ashes, dust to dust We return to that, which we are made,
We make the most of what this world gives Endure all manner of strife Feast or famine, glory or gloom It’s the living that rewards life,
Many put down roots somewhere Raise a family and build a home Day by day, year after year We gather them, so we won’t be alone,
But to some the wind is their guidepost Follow where the tumbleweed goes Here to there, then to now Where they’ll be next, nobody knows,
Yesterday’s home is in their past Tomorrow brings a whole new day No place to be, just traveling free They blow on in their unconcerned way,
So don’t try to tie them down, my friend They’ll be gone with the very next breeze On their way, never to stay, Vagabonds, come and go as they please. © 2015 TraceAuthor's Note
