Chapter Five

Chapter Five

A Chapter by Bunny

I heard the man hang up the phone after Snow called out. I knew what she would say. For me to not come after her, she'd be OK on her own. I knew better. She just didn't want me to put myself in danger to save her. Sucks for her, I'm doing it anyway. I packed a bag with clothes, food, water, blankets, and other emergency supplies. Taking a deep breath, I shook my head as I waited for midnight to roll around. All day I stayed in my room, just staring at the picture of us. It was last year when we took it. We were at the pool.

It was a school field trip for the end of the year. We were both extremely sunburned and it was kind of funny. Both of us wore our hair in buns and our bangs were in our face. Snow wore a hot pink bikini top and a pair of black shorts with the bikini bottoms under it. I wore a black bikini top with hot pink shorts an the bikini bottoms under it. My hair was brown and wavy, unlike how it is now. Now it's bleach blonde and straight. We were right beside each other but not touching because our sunburns hurt. Despite the pain, we were extremely close.

I shook my head as I wiped away tears, holding the picture close to my chest. I swore to myself that I would find her and bring her home safe. Then I would never let her go again. I sat there until eleven with tears streaming down my face. A few minutes later, I grabbed my bag and slung it over my shoulder before running out the door and starting on the walk to the lake house. After about forty minutes, I got there. Slowly, I walked inside.

"Snow? Baby, are you in here?" I called as I looked around. Sighing, I shook my head. There was no one there. I had been tricked. I noticed there was a light in the kitchen. On the counter sat a piece of paper. I picked it up and read it, arching an eyebrow when I saw Snow's handwriting and tear marks.

"Rayne-

I've been moved to another location. You'll have to find out where. Here's a hint- remember our date. That's all he'll let me say. But I'm begging you, please don't come after me. I love you.

-Snow"

I felt hot tears roll down my cheeks as I shook my head. I was going to find her and take care of her. She was going to come home with me. Flipping it over, I saw a note on the back.

"Ps. He says you have till midnight tomorrow."

Grinding my teeth together, I crumpled up the note in my hand. I ran out of the lake house and over to Taco Cabana. Walking inside, I look around before walking up to the counter.

"Excuse me, have you seen a girl in here a bit taller than me with pale skin and black hair?" I said, sighing softly when the employee shook his head. I closed my eyes then ran out, heading towards the roller rink. When I got there, I had to pick the lock. Silently, I thanked God that there was no alarm system in this place. Getting in, I turned on the lights and then walked onto the rink. Suddenly, all the colored lights flipped on and I was surrounded by skaters zooming past me. Blinded by the lights and confused by all the movement, I stumbled towards the carpet. Looking around everywhere, there was no Snow.

I fell onto a table as someone slammed into me then rolled away. Gasping, I ducked a flying skate and got under a table. Closing my eyes, I crawled until a man stood in front of me. He grabbed me by my hair and pulled me to my feet.

"Hello, dear Rayne. I'm afraid you're precious Snow isn't here. She would be dead by now in that mess, wouldn't she?" He said. I stayed silent as I glared up at him, tearing myself away from his grip. His fingers were bony and disgusting, making me pretty sure I'd have to boil myself to feel even slightly clean. Taking a deep breath, he led me over to the child's area. Snow's clothes were hanging on the railing and I glared at him.

"What did you do to her?" I hissed through my teeth. He merely laughed, finding my anger rather amusing. I didn't move a muscle as I waited for his answer.

"I did nothing to her, my dear, but if you would like to find her, I'd suggest you go home and rest. Your mind won't work without the proper amount of sleep," he said. I went to punch him but he merely dodged it and walked away. Grabbing her clothes, I stuffed them in my bag and ran home. It was now three AM. I threw myself into bed and curled up as tears rolled down my cheeks and I hugged Snow's clothing tightly. It smelled like her. Slowly, I cried myself to sleep.

I woke up after noon, silently cursing myself. I now had less than twelve hours to find Snow. Shaking my head, I got up and ran out the door, knowing she had to be at one place. The lake.

When I got there, it was deathly still. I looked around everywhere, around the lake, the house, the surrounding houses, the woods. She was nowhere. Now it was about ten o'clock pm and I had worked up a pretty painful sunburn. Shaking my head, I ignored the pain as I kept going. Around eleven, I walked out of the lake house to see Snow hanging onto a rope. She was in her underclothes and soaked, though it was probably only forty degrees outside. I shook my head. The man stood there, laughing as he let the rope loose enough for her to be dunked back into the lake. I could see she was exhausted and hungry, though she couldn't let go. If she let go, she wouldn't have the energy to swim to land. I silently walked over to the man as he pulled her out. The sight of her, soaked, freezing, and hungry just killed me inside. Biting my lip, I took a deep breath.

The man let go of the rope and let her fall back in as I attacked him. Pulling out a knife, I cut his side while he punched me in the eye. I staggered away while he clutched his side, falling to the ground. Once there, his eyes started to dim as he said one last thing.

"Snow has fallen, but snow can't fall without rain."

I shook my head and kicked him before I looked for Snow. Diving into the black ice of the lake, I pulled her out and got her to shore. She wasn't breathing and she was cold. I shook my head as I started to do CPR, trying to get her heart started while trying to get the water out of her lungs. After about ten minutes, I knew it was no hope. Tears rolled down my cheeks and onto her cold skin. Gently, I picked her up and started walking home after wrapping her up in a bunch of warm blankets.

Silently, I walked upstairs and laid her in my bed after dressing her in a nice, warm black dress and red earrings. Gently combing out her hair, I hummed to her then did her make up. Once she was done, I changed into a red dress with black earrings, doing my make up. I put on red lipstick and walked over to her, gently leaning down.

"Wait for me. I don't want to be left behind. Don't leave me. I love you," I said as I kissed her cheek, leaving a ruby red mark. Quietly, I walked to the bathroom and got down my sleeping pills. Closing my eyes, I swallowed as many as I could before I started to run some bath water. Humming, I put down the plug after feeling the ice cold water. Slowly, I took out a box cutter from when we moved and made a few nice slices in my arms. Silently, I got into the bath tub and closed my eyes as I started to feel sleepy, ignoring the fire burning on my arms. Suddenly, I realized what he meant.

"Snow won't fall without the Rayne."

I didn't care. I felt a fire in my lungs, but I was too tired to do anything about it. Plus, it didn't bother much. I heard Snow calling for me.

"You look beautiful in that red dress," she said as she wrapped her arms around my waist once my heart had stopped. I smiled at her as I turned to face her, only to be met with a small peck on the lips.

If dying meant I got Snow forever, that's fine with me.
