Dear Storm

Dear Storm

A Poem by Writingfox

You are my best excuse,
to curl up on a couch
to be lazy and amused.
By movies and books,
and with one who is loved
giving me amused looks.
I love your grayness,
your solemn demeanor
your violent rumbles and flashes,
you make my soul stir
frightened and disturbed
and at the same time
safe and secure.
You roar and grumble
releasing your strength
but I regard your fury
as only a disquiet mumble.
You make me thoughtful and quiet
something not easily accomplished
I am content.
You lull me in my sleep
calmness overwhelms me.
You give me time,
comfort,
peace.
Which is ironic,
a contradiction.
But coming from a living contradiction,
it is the highest praise I can give.
Thank you.

Your words paint a beautiful and warm sensation when it comes to storms. They can be such a dichotomy as when you are inside, safe and secure, they are truly a spectacle to be witness of, while if your out within it's turbulent chaos, other feelings are felt.

This is such a nice poem woven in a smart piece. I loved the way you described how a storm can be such a friend. More than that, I so agree with your words since I feel exactly safe and secure that the "best excuse,to curl up on a couch
to be lazy and amused... makes me content," giving me time, comfort and peace. A true good piece to read again and again.

I love this poem. I can totally relate to your point of view. Storms are full of wonderful, terrible power. It IS a contradiction; but an incredible one all the same. :)
As usual; great job!
