![]() Little GirlA Poem by Writing Walter![]() Another poem about "Coraline", focusing on the more childlike and whimsical feeling of the story![]() Little girl, kinda sad
Little girl, kinda mad Little girl wants something more Little girl finds a door Little girl is crawling through, Finds familiar things, brand new They look at her, with strange black eyes It’s pretty creepy, but also nice She gets what she didn’t have before She wants to stay forevermore It just seems so pleasant, so perfect and yet She receives warnings from mice, tea and cats The woman asks her if she wants to stay Without hesitation, she shouts an okay It seems settled quickly, there’s just one thing to do There are black buttons they need to sew Right into her eyes, she won’t shed a tear The little girl’s heart is filling with fear! She escapes quickly, wonders what’s going on But when she gets home, her parents are gone They’re missing, they’ve vanished, nowhere to be seen She has to go back and challenge that fiend To free her family and all the kids trapped She’ll have to be clever to find out where they’re kept The game is a dangerous one and she almost lost If this had happened, she’d paid a terrible cost But with courage and brains and the help of a cat She presented the Beldam with a match well met The prisoners freed, she escaped, overjoyed Just the devilish key had to be destroyed In the dark of the night, she went to the well Ready to watch the key, relieved, when it fell But the demon had one last trick up her sleeve And without a friend, the girl would have been relieved Of her life, of her love, of her spirit so clear But this little girl had conquered her fear Little girl, sometimes sad Little girl, sometimes mad But she learned that the grass on the other side Might just be too green, might just be too bright And of course, she still sometimes wants something more But now she’ll be careful what she wishes for © 2015 Writing Walter |
