Muted Heart

We mute our feelings out of fear.

Silence beats in my chest,

my heart pumping all

but blood.

It pumps the words that

I dare not speak of, 

out of fear that I will

drive you elsewhere.

My heart seemingly growing

muted as time goes on,

never to express my soul to 

you.

It is sad to be fearful of a saying something that might drive that person away. But it is sadder to think that they may never know exactly how you feel because of the fear. Nicely done.

Thank you very much. I think one of the bravest things we can do is say how we feel, despite possibly driving someone away because of it, better to speak than to keep it inside and not knowing of what the outcome could have been if one had spoke.
