Mutual

We all wish for things to be this way someday, with the right person(s).

If there were ever something that

one wishes to have more than love itself,

it is mutuality.

Mutual respect, mutual love,

mutual praise and thoughtfulness.

Oh such a rarity found should

be kept tightly to one’s chest,

as though it is to never be found again.

A precious gemstone that very few

will ever come to acquire in this lifetime.

Very interesting point made here. Mutuality seems ultimately more satisfactory than romantic love, which raises expectations that will never be met in any lasting way. Better to have a friend than a disappointed lover.
