She Loves Me, She Loves Me NotA Poem by Erinlove hurts more than hate
We were sitting by the water
And its gentle soothing sound Our hands were intertwined My head on your shoulder There was something that I had to tell you But that moment was so perfect Couldn't I hold on for one more day? Tears welled in my eyes I let go of your hand I hung my head low And hair covered my face You pushed the hair from my eyes And reached back for my hand I pulled away and cursed myself I watched a leaf float down the creek And the birds sang in the distance I wrapped my arms around my legs And let my silence answer the unspoken question You whispered my name as a tear fell down your face And I cried and hardly dared to breathe You sighed and dropped a flower in the water Three petals were missing And three remained I wonder which you started on No matter where you ended Know the answer will forever be "She loves me" I pray you know that I love you I pray that you hate me now. Because love hurts more than hate. © 2012 Erin |
