Why She Never Lets it ShowA Poem by Erin
There once was a boy who fell in love
And a little girl who loved him so The young man said that he loves he too, But no more than a friend she knows. She cries and prays most every day, knowing it'll never be. She doesn't lose faith in her dreams No matter how hurtful they'll be. She sits and watches him find himself Doesn't try to change him at all The thought of him makes her cry But she's so happy when he's happy The pain just drifts away. "I love you," she'll whisper on the phone, Much too soft for him to hear. He hangs up, she cries alone. Oh, how she wants him so. She cries when he cries, and she laughs when he laughs And they don't quite know the reasons why Every time he talks of his love, She feels so empty inside. She fights for him and she hurts for him For every reason she doesn't know. I guess that's why they call it love, And why she never lets it show. She's the singer on his wedding day And she cries as they say, "I do." "I love you," she whispers for the last time He's never looked so handsome. She cries when he cries, and she laughs when he laughs And they don't quite know the reasons why Every time he talks of his love, She feels so empty inside. She fights for him, and she hurts for him For every reason she doesn't know. I guess that's why they call it love, And why she never lets it show. © 2012 Erin |
