Fragile, Shattered Shards of GlassA Poem by Erin
Fragile, shattered shards of glass.
Another picture from the wall. We'll clean it up, replace the glass. There, good as new. The frame is crooked on the wall. The picture seems to be fading. Fading, changing, not the same. It's probably just in our minds. With a crash it falls again. Right when we least expected it. Fragile, shattered shards of glass Litter the hardwood once again. We'll replace the glass again and again. The picture fades in and fades out. The livelihood of childhood. The lessons that were avoided. Fragile, shattered shards of glass The words we never learned. The glass we'll replace each time it breaks. A photograph that changes. © 2012 Erin |
